As a Senior Manager in the Technology Practice at Andersen Consulting from 1993 through 1997 I was involved with more than ten client engagements, including:

Enterprise Architect / Technology Architect:  Missouri Supreme Court – 20 year plan for Integrated State-wide, E-enabled Justice Services

Programme Manager:  United States Postal Service, Washington, DC – Major Programme Rescue and Renovation

  • Evaluated and decomposed an existing program as part of remedial solutions planning
  • Delivered work and organisation breakdown structures, release strategies, detailed work-plans and schedules, and overall cost estimate for the program
  • Provided a plan to set-up and operate a Program Management Organisation
  • Created a framework for an overall program management organization (PMO) and PMO office including initial planning and frameworks for quality, risk, release and resource management, program administration and control

Technology Architect / Project Manager: Ryder Trucks, Miami – retroactive Operations Support Architecture planning and process re-engineering:

  • Developed a ground-breaking (pre-ITIL) Operations Support Process Model Architecture and Interconnecting cross-functional flow
  • Created Operations Support process flows sub-process flow charts and high-level procedures used to support a nation-wide, multi-platform Asset Management system, as well as all future distributed applications
  • Managed a small team charged with creating a project office to coordinate Operations Support for the roll-out of this system
  • Prepared the master work plan and schedules
  • Coordinated issues tracking related to organisational readiness to support system rollout
  • Specified documentation and diagramming standards

Technology Architect:  Prime Minister’s Office / Privy Council (Canada) – Creation of OA Strategy; specification and selection of groupware and email solution

  • Defined overall office automation strategy to direct and facilitate the integration of technology and services to better support the client computing environment
  • Performed email requirements study, from technical and user perspective
  • Generated detailed evaluation criteria for the selection of an electronic mail, personal and group scheduling and facsimile transmission system
  • Selected and recommended an electronic mail solution; created implementation plans
  • Advised departmental technical and network architecture initiatives
  • Co-chair of Message Handling System Special Working Group
  • Co-chair of Office Automation Advisory Committee

I also took on lead Solutions Architect and Technical Team Manager for major Business Development involving the comprehensive management of Technology aspects of successful (winning) large-scale Tender response proposals including:

  • Government Sector (New York State) £450mn RFP managed 16 senior resources; technology budget planning; hardware/vendor/partner selection & negotiation; final audit – document & plans
  • Telecoms Sector (National) £200mn RRP managed 5 senior resources, comprehensive solutions definition and project planning
