Technology Planner Qatar Petroleum (Doha)   1999 – 2002

Senior internal Management consultant delivering IT Strategy and Planning to this $20Bn corporation, working closely with local expertise and management to renovate and modernise the corporate IT organisation, facilities and overall approach to business.  Results included:

  • Sold the vision and rationale of Enterprise architecture and the necessity for transformation to senior management
  • Created Corporate IT Architecture and knowledge repository; planned programme roadmap for implementation, in parallel with business as usual
  • Principal adviser on the application of emerging technologies to deliver to the business and IT vision; proposed implementation approaches for new technology and infrastructure services
  • Guidance in planning and prioritisation to corporate business units regarding £25Mn annual IT & Systems budget
  • Developed and managed five year IT Strategic Business Plan
  • Developed corporate UNIX server and integration strategy
  • Managed specification and pre-procurement of an enterprise network management system, from defining requirements to the evaluation, shortlisting and selection of product and provider
  • Advised in specification and procurement of a replacement mainframe system

Other Activities:

  • Delivered Ministerial-level review of the technology and organisational readiness and adaptability of the IT functions of the Department of Electricity and Water in advance of its privatisation to Kahramaa
  • Seconded as key contributing member in the evaluation of a responses to £200Mn master plan for overall QP office and facility relocation
